146. Clement De La Haye: India's Oldest Unsolved Murder (EARLY ACCESS)
Perhaps the occupation of India by the British was the biggest colonial era crime, but that injustice tends to mask other ones. In the slew of news we read now about murder, we forget that pre-independence era India also had its fair share of unsolved mysteries. One institution in Madras stood tall. The Newington College. A college setup to civilize the India man, make him into a slave of the Western etiquette, stamp out his cultural sensibilities. A college setup for India’s princely youth. But something happened on the night of October 15, 1919 that stamped out the college itself from the annals of Indian history. This is the story of that mysterious gun shot. This is the story of Clement De La Haye.
